Job Summary
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* Conceives product design concepts and prepares design layouts of systems and major components by manual means or by using a computer graphics system
* Makes design calculations, design decisions and does the necessary analysis and computer simulations
* Works closely with Test & Evaluation engineers and technicians, plant personnel, and suppliers regarding product design, test and production schedule dates
* Provides technical leadership to Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, Service and other departments to solve the more difficult problems
* Refines and improves product designs by investigating and developing solutions to product design problems
* Works with customers, dealers, and other departments throughout the resolution process
* Initiates and develops plans and controls the stages through production release
* Approves or rejects engineering design deviations or change requests from other departments
* Provides leadership to drafting personnel and assembly engineers
* Furnishes technical leadership for Designers, Layout Drafters, Drafting Technicians, and purchased drafting support in assigned areas of responsibility
* Provides guidance to Assemblers and Test Engineers during product build-up and testing
* Ensures proper maintenance of production drawings
* Frequently travels to foreign and domestic production plants, dealerships and customer job sites to solve design problems and to field test locations to assist with the development of engineering projects
* Engineering degree, or equivalent experience, and 2 to 4 years in progressive engineering assignments to gain a mastery of engineering disciplines
* Must have a good mechanical aptitude and strong problem solving and management techniques
* Requires good communication skills
