About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Software Engineer with 1 2 years of hands-on experience in Ruby on Rails and working knowledge of Java to join our backend engineering team. You ll play a key role in building scalable, high-quality web applications that power our products, working closely with product and design teams to deliver impactful solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails and Java
- Design and tune MySQL database schemas and queries for performance
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code across multiple technologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical deliverables
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and other issues
- Create and maintain unit tests to ensure code reliability and coverage
- Participate in code reviews and actively share knowledge
- Contribute to architecture discussions and support technical decision-making
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 1 2 years of professional experience working with Ruby on Rails in production
- Familiarity with Java backend development
- Strong proficiency in MySQL with experience optimizing schemas and queries
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns
- Experience writing unit tests in Ruby and/or Java
- Ability to write efficient, maintainable, and performant code
- Strong analytical and debugging skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Nice to Have
- Experience working in polyglot backend environments
- Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda)
- Exposure to NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and containerization (Docker)
