Essential Responsibilities: As the Controls Reliability Engineer, you will: Assume ownership of turbine controls RCA through the 8D cycle from team formation to closeout Investigate and analyze complex controls issues occurring in the fleet of installed turbines and develop corrective actions Cooperate with the Segment Fleet Support, FRO, and Validation teams to analyze the complex controls issues and develop corrective actions Proactively coordinate controls field validation campaigns with customers and the Validation team Execute field validation campaigns including phase zero testing, drive resolution to failures and drive preventative measures to prevent future failures Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters Execute prototype field operations including maintaining site servers, organized methodical change control on site workspaces (.tcw) and execution of both release specific + validation campaign tests Execute change control for all controls & operability items including but not limited to parameters, attributes, supplemental firmware and XML files Execute software modifications (upgrades + downgrades) for prototype tests Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited college or university Minimum of 3 years of engineering work or research experience Ability and willingness to travel 20% for field troubleshooting & validation Desired Characteristics: Proficiency in MATLAB / Simulink or similar program Strong oral and written communication skills Problem analysis and resolution skills Experience with wind turbine control systems Proficiency in at least one aero-elastic wind turbine simulation tool such as Bladed, Fast, or Flex Advanced degree with a focus on controls, wind energy, or system dynamics Good understanding of classical (transfer functions, frequency domain design, etc) and basic knowledge in modern (state-space, optimal control, etc) control theory Experience with real-time control systems such as the MarkVIe Knowledge of at least one programming language such as C or Delphi Experience replicating field issues in simulation and driving resolution Experience analyzing large data sets with both high-speed data collection tools and data warehouse to detect trends needed to determine root cause
