Project Director HVAC

Location: New Delhi

About the Role:

Smart Joules, a leader in energy efficiency and sustainability, is seeking an highly motivated and experienced Project Director to lead our HVAC projects team. As we expand our footprint across India and internationally, this role will oversee multiple large-scale HVAC projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality control, and cost-effectiveness throughout all project phases. The Project Director will report directly to the COO.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

• Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of HVAC projects to meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, finance, and other teams for seamless project delivery.
• Define clear project objectives, scope, and deliverables aligned with customer requirements and company goals.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary contact for clients, stakeholders, and vendors during the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with senior leadership to communicate project status, risks, and opportunities.
• Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and external partners to ensure project success.

Leadership and Team Development

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Develop succession plans and a second line of leadership within the project teams to support growth.

Quality Assurance & Risk Management

• Implement robust quality control and risk management strategies to prevent delays and cost overruns.
• Conduct regular project reviews and audits to maintain compliance with standards and procedures.
• Anticipate risks, resolve issues proactively, and ensure schedule adherence.

Financial Oversight

• Work with finance to manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Ensure cost-efficient use of resources while maintaining quality.
• Drive financial performance, including invoicing and profitability management.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks related to projects.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Experience: 15+ years in project management, including 5+ years in leadership roles managing large-scale HVAC projects.
• Education: Bachelor s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, energy efficiency, and sustainable design principles.
• Project Management: Proven success managing projects with budgets exceeding INR 50 crore.
• Leadership: Experienced in leading cross-functional teams and subcontractors.
• Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at managing complex stakeholder relationships.
• Work Style: Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Bonus Points:

• Familiarity with international HVAC standards and regulations.
• PMP certification and/or proficiency in project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
