Senior Design Engineer Central Design Team

Role Summary
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will lead the Central Design team s efforts to identify, assess, and formulate energy conservation measures (ECMs) that achieve a minimum of 20% energy savings at each JoulePAYS client site. You will be responsible for maintaining ECM documentation, conducting techno-commercial comparisons, projecting savings, and continuously innovating energy-saving techniques. This role reports to the Design Lead - HVAC and functions as an individual contributor.
Key Responsibilities
JoulePAYS Project (Brownfield)
- Identify, assess, and innovate energy-saving solutions tailored to client sites.
- Guide the Field Engineering Team in detailed facility audits with customized data collection methods.
- Develop and maintain an ECM Book summarizing techno-commercial potentials and go/no-go decisions for each site.
- Finalize ECMs targeting minimum 20% energy savings and a maximum 20-month payback period, including detailed techno-commercial comparisons and vendor negotiations.
- Prepare ECM Notes, Design Qualifications, Monthly Savings Projections, and Detailed BOQs with projected costs.
- Research global energy-saving technologies and conduct competitive analyses to find new opportunities.
- Collaborate with BMS Design and Commissioning teams to finalize BMS deployment scopes.
- Prepare award applications recognizing client achievements in energy savings and sustainability.
JouleCOOL Project (Greenfield)
- Perform heat load calculations (air conditioning & ventilation) using E20 sheet or HAP.
- Design central air conditioning plants, including high side and low side, DX systems, VRF, etc.
- Select HVAC equipment such as chillers, pumps, cooling towers, AHUs, fan coil units, ducting, and piping.
- Collaborate with Business Development to propose value engineering ideas that differentiate Smart Joules offerings.
- Work closely with draftsmen to prepare concept drawings, P&IDs, and GFC drawings.
Documentation
- Own energy audit data, ECM Books, ECM Notes, design qualifications, savings projections, design budgets, and value engineering ideas for projects.
- Regularly document and share best practices and success stories across teams.
- Maintain up-to-date centralized documentation for all client sites.
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree in Mechanical, Energy, or Electrical Engineering.
- 6+ years in project design, energy management, planning, and execution, preferably in HVAC systems.
- Strong expertise in mass and energy balance calculations.
- Proficiency in calculating building heat load (cooling & heating) and pump head calculations.
- Extensive knowledge of central air conditioning system design and execution, including building energy management systems.
- Familiarity with energy modeling software is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Indian energy conservation products, services, standards (ISO, ISHRAE, BEE), and certifications (LEED, NABH).
- Strong computer skills: web research, email, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and deliver under pressure with great attention to detail and quality.
