Job Summary Your RoleWorking within the Data Science group, as a Principal Speech Scientist, you will collaborate with talented peers to develop novel algorithms and modelling techniques to advance the state of the art in all aspects of speech technology. Your work will directly impact our customers in the form of products and services that make use of speech and language technology. As a hands-on thought leader on this team, you will be responsible for defining key research questions, identifying relevant data, adopt or propose innovative machine learning solutions, conduct rigorous experiments, publish results and work with the engineering team to deploy these solutions. You will also help build tools that assist team members do similar research, and provide technical leadership for the team members.Your Responsibilities Responsible for critical algorithmic work related to several speech technologies in our portfolio including Speech Recognition, VAD, Language ID and Emotion Recognition. Identifying areas for improvement in various speech modules via a thorough benchmarking strategy including data specification and plans for data curation Planning and execution of a research cycle to eventually result in system performance improvements. Keeping abreast with state-of-the-art and evaluating and infusing these advancements into Uniphore portfolio Contribute to the intellectual property of Uniphore by innovating new approaches to challenges related to our products. Provide thought leadership and mentoring for junior team members Represent Uniphore globally as part of research community contributing to open source repositories and publications. Your Qualifications Minimum 10+ years of experience in the field of Speech Recognition, ML and Signal Processing MS/PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, AI, Machine Learning or a related quantitative field Proven track record of innovating novel algorithms and advancing the state of the art Experience working with open-source speech engines such as Kaldi, Mozilla DeepSpeech and Facebook wav2vec Significant experience building, architecting and/or contributing to development of commercial speech engines Experience working with machine learning technologies, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), information retrieval and/or related applications Thorough knowledge of Deep Learning techniques Proficient with ML/DL tools such as TensorFlow and Pytorch Passion to solve complex problems with elegant simple solutions
