What You ll Be Doing End-to-End Development Take full ownership of feature development, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality code. Optimize and improve application performance and scalability. Design and build RESTful APIs that integrate seamlessly with our systems. Database & Backend Engineering Design and maintain efficient PostgreSQL/MySQL database schemas, ensuring proper indexing, constraints, and triggers. Write optimized raw SQL queries when necessary (not just ActiveRecord!). Implement caching solutions using Redis, Memcache, and other in-memory databases. Work with background job processing systems such as Sidekiq, Delayed Jobs, etc. Code Quality & Testing Write clean, maintainable, and test-driven code using RSpec or similar frameworks. Follow best practices in version control (Git) and maintain high coding standards. Debug and troubleshoot production issues with a problem-solving mindset. Continuous Learning & Collaboration Stay updated with the latest Rails features, gems, and industry best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (designers, product managers, and other developers) to build a world-class travel platform. Explore and implement new technologies to enhance our tech stack. 4+ years of experience in web development, with 2+ years in Ruby on Rails. Strong CS fundamentals, data structures, and problem-solving skills. Solid understanding of database management and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL. Experience in background job processing (Sidekiq, Delayed Jobs, etc.). Deep knowledge of REST API development and scalable architecture design. Proficiency in Git and collaborative development workflows. Ability to write automated tests and follow test-driven development (TDD) principles. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team. Bonus Points If You: Have experience with frontend technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React.js, Vue.js). Have built your own Ruby Gem. Have hands-on experience with DevOps, AWS, and ElasticSearch. Have explored Rails internals beyond StackOverflow solutions.
