About the Role We re seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager - Backend to lead high-performing backend engineering teams. You ll drive technical excellence, deliver scalable systems, and mentor engineers across multiple projects. With a hands-on background in distributed systems, databases, cloud infrastructure, and team leadership, you ll play a pivotal role in defining how Meesho scales its backend platforms. What You Will Do Design and assign technical tasks aligning with Meesho s backend architecture guidelines. Manage a team of software engineers; mentor and conduct regular performance reviews. Monitor progress across multiple projects; conduct sprint reviews and track OKRs. Collaborate cross-functionally with product, sales, and design to deliver innovative backend solutions. Own product scalability, system performance, and engineering efficiency. Plan and report engineering deliverables with regular updates and documentation. What You Will Need Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science or related field. Minimum 7+ years of backend development experience with 2+ years in engineering management. Proficient in Java or Python and multithreading programming paradigms. Strong understanding of transactional and NoSQL databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc. Expertise in Kafka or other messaging systems. Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP). Bonus: Familiarity with Elasticsearch, data pipelines, or real-time data processing. Hands-on experience building large-scale, distributed backend systems. Excellent team-building and leadership skills; ability to mentor junior and senior engineers alike.
