Collaborating across key business areas such as Payment Services and Business Services, these teams design, build, and maintain our diverse product catalog. We empower our engineers with autonomy and trust, allowing them to make critical technical decisions that shape the future of Tide s Global One Platform. Our engineers work in small, autonomous teams organized by business domains, each owning the full lifecycle of its microservices. We foster a culture of collaboration through technical discussions and Communities of Practice, where engineers share best practices and set guidelines, regardless of their level on Tide s Growth Framework. ABOUT THE ROLE As an engineer at Tide, you will: Contribute to Tide s event-driven microservice architecture, consisting of 200+ services managed by 40+ teams. Design, build, run, and scale globally the services your team owns. Develop services using Java 17, Spring Boot, and JOOQ. Expose and consume RESTful APIs, focusing on high-quality API design essential in Open Banking. Utilize SNS+SQS and Kafka for event-driven communication. Work with PostgreSQL via Aurora in an AWS-heavy environment. Deploy services frequently (often multiple times daily) using CI/CD pipelines powered by GitHub Actions with JUnit and Pact Testing. Embrace GitOps with ArgoCD and collaborate with our Cloud team, which uses Docker, Terraform, and EKS/Kubernetes to manage the platform. Monitor and troubleshoot services using DataDog. Collaborate closely with Product Owners to translate user needs, business opportunities, and regulatory requirements into well-engineered solutions. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are seeking candidates who: Have experience building server-side applications with a solid understanding of backend programming languages (knowledge of Java is a plus, but a willingness to learn is essential). Are proficient in backend frameworks (e.g., Spring/Spring Boot) and have experience developing microservices that expose and consume RESTful APIs. Have experience engineering scalable, reliable solutions in a cloud-native environment with a solid understanding of CI/CD and Agile practices. Demonstrate a mindset focused on delivering secure, well-tested, and well-documented software that integrates with third-party providers and partners.
