Agriculture Officer Job in Afarm

Experience: 5 years of professional experience of working on agriculture training & extension based projects. Candidate having experience in agri. Business development of small producers & promotion of producer collectives/cooperatives/Producer Company will be given preference.

Key qualifications: Communication & moderation Skills, Written and spoken English Language proficiency, Computer literacy, willingness to travel, ability to determine priorities and respect deadlines, Ability to work in a team and remain pro active.

Job Profile:

• Facilitate information meetings with farmers, formation of producer groups, assessment of existing agriculture practices, need assessment meeting with focus groups, etc.
• Undertake agriculture training and extension activities including demonstrations & trials on improved agriculture technologies with focus on sustainable agriculture, Farmers Field days/ field schools, Exchange Visits, Farmers Training & Workshops.
• Conduct evaluation and planning meeting with Farmer groups and need assessment meetings with APG s at the end of each cropping season.
• Prepare the Training / Resource Material in local dialect, participate as a resource person and/or arrange outside expert resource persons in agriculture extension activities.
• Provide information on marketing extension and market intelligence to Producer groups
• Empowering Producer groups to participate in markets effectively by increasing their awareness about the functions of markets and prices, the importance of quality and standards, increasing their participation in decision-making and negotiating through training.
• Promote producer groups to increase their bargaining power in the market place and to gain the benefits of market institutions, and commodity exchanges.
• Improve the ability of Producer groups and to overcome their cash constraints through linkages with banks and market institutions
• Create and strengthen discussion between the private sector and Producer groups for enhancing the market environment, particularly with regard to prices and quality
• Facilitate PPP arrangements for the production & marketing of agri. Commodities through contract farming, organic farming, milk production and collection centers, grain storage and ware houses etc.;
• Carry out market & commodity analysis to bring improvement in marketing and ensure better returns to Producer group establish linkage with the private sector players and draw specific plans for development.
• Facilitate collective aggregation and disaggregation processes at Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) level.
• To prepare business plans, and detailed road map of FPOs.
