About Alstom in India

Alstom has established a strong presence in India. Currently, the company is executing metro projects in several Indian cities including Chennai, Kochi and Lucknow where it is supplying Rolling Stock manufactured out its state of the art facility at SriCity in Andhra Pradesh. In the Mainline space, Alstom is executing Signaling & Power Supply Systems for the 343 Km. section on World Bank funded Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. Phase 1 in the construction of the new electric locomotive factory for manufacturing and supply of 800 units of 12000HP locomotives is also complete at Madhepura, Bihar while the depot at Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh is ready to commence operation. Alstom has set up an Engineering Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, and this coupled with a strong manufacturing base as well as localized supply chains, is uniquely positioned to serve customers across the globe. Today, Alstom in India employs close to 3600 people and in line with Government of Indias Make in India policy initiative, Alstom has been investing heavily in the country in producing world class rolling stock, components, design, research and development to not only serve the domestic market, but also rest of the world. India

Job Responsibilities:

Operations

  • Ensure proper cost controlling and review mechanism (Control external costs & commitments with interfaces with Sourcing, Manufacturing & Engineering teams)
  • Set up adequate processes & KPIs to measure the activity and the services delivered on a periodic basis Structure monthly function reviews & drive cost out actions
  • Propose efficient and innovative ways to measure each cost function & its evolution during the buildup & running phases and drive cost reduction efforts
  • Manage Other operational aspects (Monitor working capital, billing, collections, tax compliance, BG, LCs, Bond management, hedging, etc)

Controlling

  • Manage the controlling of projects & revenue recognition in accordance with internal control rules/ IFRS
  • Organize the project reviews from start to the end of each contract
  • Ensure consistency with project teams (Planner, Sourcing )
  • Analyse the execution performance and propose action plans to improve contract margin and cash profile as well as corrective action plans to mitigate identified risks

Management Reviews

  • Prepare the estimate at completion to be validated during the Project Reviews
  • Monthly/ Critical Project review to review operational performance, dashboards, etc
  • Drive Periodic Sales & Cash reviews with Project Teams

    You are expected to play an active role to support the various Operations teams: pro-active, flexible, innovative, close to your Business needs:

The specific responsibilities of the role include:

1. Measurement and Performance Controlling of the Project:
This includes monthly measurement of actual costs of various work packages (Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management, Sourcing, etc as well as variance analysis and forecast for future months/ quarters

2. Action Plan monitoring & Controlling:

As part of Monthly reviews, lead the development and measurement of the action plans, tracking risks & opportunities, evolve roadmaps to improve margins. You will have to work with different Project/ Operation teams to review the progress and drive Ops KPIs

3. Overall Work Package reviews & Consolidation:

This role requires familiarity of how budgets are set across individual work packages and ensuring Alstom guidance on Project Management are complied with in both substance & form. It will require familiarity with SAP, Project Management Tools, used in Alstom. This will be working closely with senior leaders across the organization to generate good qualitative review package.

4. Budgets & Forecasts
Making sure that the cost forecast/ phasing is done accurately by closely working with multiple sites in India/ Global. A key success factor will be to give visibility to Project Team on quarterly forecasts, Say/ Do ratio on actual performance, highlighting Risks & Opportunities & mitigating action plans

Requirements:

  • CA with 6+ years of experience or MBA from reputed institute with 8+ years of experience with good commercial knowledge and business acumen from a reputed Company
  • Autonomous, proactive, deadline driven
  • Flexible & Able to push innovative ideas

Reporting: This position reports to Alstom India RSC Controller & will closely work with Project Managers of the respective project(s).
