Sr. Engineer - Sustenance/ Product Engineering Job in Altra Industrial Motion

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for Product Engineering of the products already in production. The
position needs knowledge of basic Machine design, GD&T, Tolerance stack-up analysis, DFMEA,
DFM, DTC. Should have in depth knowledge & hands on experience on VA-VE, Engineering
Change Management; Problem Solving tools & techniques.

satisfaction in a competitive market. Our growing R&D organization follows a well-defined
stage gate product development process.

Additionally, Portescap has embarked on critical initiative on VA-VE in competitive market to
improve our margin and customer satisfaction. R&D is playing a major role to achieve stretch
targets on the same. R&D works closely with the manufacturing and customers for improving
the quality levels of existing products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Responsible for product engineering of Motor / Gear box / Encoder assemblies for the
products running in production.
2) Work closely with manufacturing & quality to provide design improvements on technical
issues both on shop floor as well as in customer complaint (RMA) analysis to provide
sustainable solution. Should have a good communication skill to interact with
Application Engineer / Customer to ensure that the design quality solution meets the
customer's expectations with respect to performance.
3) Support operations of value analysis, cost reductions & customer complaints.

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
1) Knowledge and hands on experience on Pro-E modeling, Auto CAD, GD&T to prepare 3D
layouts & 2D drawings.
2) Knowledge of Problem-Solving Tools & Techniques.
3) Preferred exposure to one Product Development Cycle in an engineering /
manufacturing product line from concept to launch.
4) Hands on experience on DFMEA & DFM. Knowledge on processes / manufacturing of
rotary components/ equipment like shafts, housing, covers etc.
5) Knowledge of ERP preferable.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
BE/B.Tech (Mechanical) with 4 to 5 years of experience.
Experience with electric motors, special purpose machines and/or rotating machinery
preferred.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Manufacturing, QA, PQE, Sourcing, Purchase, Design Engineering
External: Vendors, Application Engineers, Customers, Counter Parts in Overseas Units (PCH etc.)
