Business Inteligence Engineer Job in Amazon

DESCRIPTION

At Amazon, our mission is simple; to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Amazon's Customer Service (CS) Continuous Improvement Analytics team is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to help us deliver that mission.


The BIE will analyze large amounts of data to discover and solve real world problems, build metrics, and automate reports around key customer service initiatives. To be successful in this role, you should have skills in database design, be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, and have experience building self-service dashboards using visualization tools. You should have strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work with continuous improvement managers and operations teams to define key business questions and build data sets and models that address and provide answers. You should be capable of handling complex and ambiguous business problems with accuracy and rigor, as well as identify opportunities and root causes through timely, accurate, and actionable analysis.

Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain automated reports and dashboards allowing 80% self-service for data needs.
Identify, develop, manage, and execute analyses to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations to stakeholders.
Report key insight trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform stakeholders of noteworthy story lines that impact the business.
Retrieve and analyze data using a broad set of Amazons data technologies and resources; knowing how, when, and which to use.
Write high-quality SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, Oracle).
Manage and execute entire projects from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.
Scope, build and own technical data warehouse processes to help the business scale.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or a related discipline.
3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer or Business Intelligence role with a technology company.
Experience with ETL development, data modeling, data warehousing, MySQL, and databases in a business environment.
Experience conducting advanced data analysis to support business decision making.
Experience gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting.
Experience working with large-scale, complex datasets in large data warehouse environments.
Knowledge of data mining and working knowledge of at least one Statistical Software (SAS, R, Python, etc.).
Proficient using at least one data visualization product (Tableau, Power BI, Amazon QuickSight, etc.).
Strong verbal and written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with business and technical teams.
Track record of drawing insights from data and to effect tangible, real-world changes.
Demonstrated ability to autonomously deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or unstructured data.
Experience working in a fast-paced high-tech environment, comfortable navigating conflicting priorities and ambiguous problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MBA or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or a related discipline.
Experience using Cloud Storage and Computing technologies such as AWS RedShift, RDS, S3 etc.
4+ years of experience as a business intelligence or data engineer working with large datasets
