Job Summary

DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking dedicated, analytical candidates with a proven track record of performance to be part of the Risk and Compliance Services (RCS) team. Amazon has a diverse set of payment businesses with global footprint, catering to a variety of customer types. RCS is responsible for implementing the risk-based controls for these payments businesses and driving programs to continuously improve them over time. This team will also assist in risk ranking, technical support, and mitigation of risks identified across various payment businesses.

The Risk Specialist-I will own the shared goal of formulation, development, implementation and maintenance of monitoring and control rules for multiple payment products across geographies. He/she will additionally support in the development, testing and enhancement of our internal tools used for transaction monitoring. He/she will work closely with Compliance officers, payment businesses, data engineers and Operations to understand products risk levels, control requirements and data availability.
The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter that can work independently in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with limited supervision. The candidate must be a fast learner, who can quickly absorb the nuances of Amazon's varied payment offerings, its risks, internal systems, and regulatory requirements. The candidate will be highly analytical in their decision making, with the demonstrated ability to extract and analyze large data sets independently.
In this role you will apply your experience with data analyses and risk/compliance to:


Analyze risk factors applicable to our new and existing payments businesses and recommend strategies to address those risks via tailored transaction monitoring controls

Design, test, document and ensure production readiness support for, the release of new monitoring rules

Assist in the creation and maintenance of program and rule performance metrics

Engage with product managers and engineers to design and execute user testing of new systems and tools

Research and understand existing/new payment products business models, associated risks, extract data using SQL and/or scripting languages and conduct in-depth analysis using Excel (or advanced Statistical tools) to identify suspicious patterns/trends

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree in any quantitative discipline (such as Statistics, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance or Operational Research) or Computer Science Engg
2+ years of prior experience working with large scale databases and SQL/MS SQL Server in a business environment
Ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses
Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with both business and technical teams
Proven analytical and problem solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



Working knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and OFAC regulations
Work Experience in e-commerce / on-line companies in fraud / risk control functions/ Payments
Experience using scripting languages like R or Python
