DESCRIPTION

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) team powers the physical engine at the heart of Amazon. AFT builds and operates the software, hardware, robotics, machine learning and processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers, which move billions of units of inventory and ensure customers get what they want when promised. We do this by ensuring through systems and services availability, optimal efficiency and faster recoverable mechanisms. Our audit mechanisms and automated solutions brings engineering hygiene and operational excellence across the globe for AFT services and operations.

As the DevOps manager you will be responsible for leading and driving operational and engineering excellence across AFT. An experienced Devops manager, you will have strong customer and operational focus, ability to understand and deep dive cross functional and inter dependent teams to eliminate the technical debt. You will also be responsible for working closely with other managers of software development teams within Amazon to improve their systems. Your solutions will impact our customers directly! This job requires you to constantly hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks will define your success. High Impact production issues often require coordination between multiple Development, Operations and IT Support groups, so you get to experience a breadth of impact with various groups.

The role requires you to be able to support the overall AFT development and operations across the globe which includes the following responsibilities:

- Own all operational metrics and support, develop automated tools for the operational improvements
- Create, prioritize, communicate, maintain, and execute roadmaps, corresponding OE and EE plans and goals.
- Report on status of software support, operations, and system performance and availability to management
- Manage managers including individual contributors to build a high performance team with high velocity while maintaining a high bar for quality
- Foster culture of continuous engineering and operational improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
- Have the obsession to drive a better customer and FC experience through everything that we do here at Amazon
- Set clear, measurable quality goals for the support organization in a data-driven way

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or relevant industry experience.
- 7+ years of relevant engineering or technical support experience.
- 2+ years experience managing people. Experience in hiring, building, and supervising high performance teams.
- Extensive relevant hands-on technical management experience of support/operations teams and skills - troubleshoot, debug, evaluate, and resolve software. Experience in managing 24x7 support/operations teams.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting Java based applications. Strategic planning backed by data.
- Knowledge of UNIX shell, Databases, Tools, scripting.
