The Organization: Amazon Physical Stores is a growing organization within Amazon developing innovative experiences in retail stores like Amazon Go, Amazon Bookstores and Amazon 4Star stores. We are redefining retail customer experience in a way that WOWs the customer while preserving the trust customers have in Amazon. We build both hardware systems and software systems that power the magical Just Walk Out (JWO) technology in Amazon Go stores to the Point of Sale that recognizes you are an Amazon customer in Bookstores and 4Star stores. We are optimizing inventory management and supply chain technologies. We are doing all of this by integrating with Amazon services designed to massively scale for millions of customers. The Group: This position is within the Physical Stores Technology Shared Services group which owns the Point of Sale, Payments, Checkout, Pricing, Hardware infrastructure management and more supporting all formats of Amazons physical stores.

The Role: As a Principal Technical Program Manager you will investigate solutions to complex problems, design solutions and work closely with the technical team to implement them. You will play a leadership role by working closely with business teams, technical teams and operational teams alike. You'll need to work well cross functionally, have strong interpersonal and written communication skills, be able to operate successfully both strategically and tactically, and have a strong bias for action.

You should be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity thats higher than most projects and relish the idea of solving new problems. You will encounter challenging, novel situations every day and given the size of this initiative, youll have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. This is a unique opportunity for a leadership role (CLT goal) driving Omnichannel (US and International expansion), Upsells and Returns programs for Amazon stores. You will lead and influence developing new features appropriate for a global audience while building solutions to scale. You will work with all the technology teams providing products and services that power physical stores. In this process, you will get the opportunity to dive deep into both software and hardware deliverables from end to end. You should enjoy working in a fast paced environment, be comfortable challenging assumptions, diving deep into any area and thinking of creative ways to tackle problems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years of relevant engineering experience
7+ years of technical program management experience
Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 6+ years' experience.
7+ years of industry experience, including 2+ years as a Development Manager
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project planning/execution skills including estimating and scheduling.
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with developers, business owners, and senior business leaders.
Proven track record of hiring and managing high performing engineering teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or related field.
7+ years of technical program management experience
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project planning/execution skills including estimating and scheduling.
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
Proven ability to lead and influence others including developers, business owners and senior tech and business leaders.
