Job Summary

We are recruiting for a Senior Research Associate to investigate the Transmission dynamics of Rabies in multi-host systems. This is part of a larger DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance funded research project titled "Bringing "OneHealth" to rabies research in India: integrating animal ecology, disease ecology, and human health".

Expectations: The SRA will help analyse data, write manuscripts and take a lead in developing new ideas to test hypotheses on the drivers of rabies transmission in multi-host systems. The SRA is expected to work closely with other team members, and partner institutions.

Required Qualifications: A Masters or Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Veterinary Science, Ecology or allied fields. Candidates with a Masters degree should have at least two years post-masters research experience. Proficiency in written and spoken English, a valid 4 wheeler license, and demonstration of research productivity (manuscripts submitted or published).

Desirable qualificiations: Proficiency in R, familiarity with ecological or mathematical modelling tools, GIS data or spatial statistics is a plus. Fluency in either Hindi/Marathi/Kannada is a plus.

The research will require extensive travelling between field sites in Pune, Solapur and Baramati (Maharashtra) and Bangalore.

Depending on qualifications, fellowship equivalent of DBT/CSIR SRA + HRA, plus opportunities to travel to international collaborators/conferences paid for by the project.
