Overview:

• Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for public and hybrid cloud models, including SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services in a large global environment that supports both business and customer needs.
• Ability to provide broad and deep technical leadership and cohesive architecture approaches for strategic efforts. Technical depth in customer facing systems from an application, infrastructure, operations, scalability, availability, performance, people, process, and tooling perspective.
• Work with a global team to gather requirements and implement solutions
• Work with application teams to design solutions and deploy applications in the cloud

Critical Responsibilities:

• Design and develop solutions based on a strategic business and technical requirements.
• Selecting the appropriate services based on data, compute, database, or security requirements. Identifying appropriate use of Cloud architectural best practices. Estimate costs and identify cost control mechanisms.
• Technical leadership in the full life cycle of the software environment. Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies. Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
• Ability to provide broad and deep technical leadership and cohesive architecture approaches for strategic efforts. Technical depth in customer facing systems from an application, infrastructure, operations, scalability, availability, performance, people, process, and tooling perspective.
• Capability to provide best practices for building secure and reliable applications on the AWS platform.
• Define deployment and operational procedures for applications and solutions that maximize the value of cloud services in support of Baxter requirements
• Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment
• Ensure delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/non-functional requirements
• Provide support and technical governance, expertise related to cloud architectures, deployment, and operations
• Act as the coach and mentor to team members and technical staff on their assigned project tasks
• Lead the definition and development of cloud reference architecture and management systems
• Conduct design reviews with team members

Education/Experience:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience

• 10 + years of experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations
• Experience as a team lead preferred
• Experience with AWS and VMWare enterprise implementations
• Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments
• Knowledge of all components of a technical architecture
• Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes
• Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies
• Strong understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis and design, and/or client/server systems
• Experience working in a Life Sciences environment preferred

Candidate must have completed the following certifications:

• AWS Solutions Architect Professional
• AWS DevOps Engineer Professional
• GCP or Azure certifications desired

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

• Experience with infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking.
• Reference architecture development
• AWS-based architectures, web-based applications, etc.
• DevOps on an AWS platform
• Professional experience architecting systems built with Amazon Web Services
• Professional experience operating systems build with Amazon Web Services.
• In-depth knowledge of at least one high-level programming language.
• Ability to identify and define requirements for Cloud-based applications.
• Experience with deploying hybrid systems with on-premises and Cloud components.
• Capability to provide best practices for building secure and reliable applications on the AWS platform.
• Experience using tools such as Bitbucket, Chef, Jenkins, and Artifactory.
• RDBMS (MySQL, AWS Aurora, Oracle, SQL Server, and Postgres) and NoSQL (Amazon DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Cassandra) data stores
• Implementing big data analytics w/ technologies like Hadoop, Amazon EMR, Amazon RedShift, and Amazon Kinesis

Soft Competencies:

Strong verbal and written communication skills (content creation such as whitepapers, proof of concepts, patents, etc.). Ability to explain complex technology decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels in the organization
