Job Description

BHP s Commercial Function manages the end-to-end value chain for BHP, one of the world s largest diversified resources companies. Within Commercial, the Market Analysis & Economics team provides forecasting, analysis and research services to the wider Group, as a guide for strategic decision making.

Market Analysis & Economics is currently seeking an experienced Analyst to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience with a demonstrable track record in fertilizer and/or agricultural commodity analysis and forecasting in a global context, in addition to outstanding academic credentials. Knowledge of one or more of the following fields is preferred: agronomy/agricultural science, agricultural economics/agribusiness, relevant agricultural commodity markets.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conduct global market analysis related to potash supply & demand, crop markets & farm economics, fertiliser use & agronomics.
  • Track market developments, gather market data and follow scientific research.
  • Manage large-scale models to produce demand and price forecasts.
  • Produce insightful written research and presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Engage with key internal stakeholders across functions.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professional integrity, consistent with BHP's charter values.

Skills And Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Advanced quantitative and qualitative research skills.
  • A track record of model-building within the agricultural commodities and/or fertilizer industries.
  • A working knowledge of the global fertilizer and agriculture sectors.
  • A strong research network within the agriculture and/or fertilizer community.
  • Advanced English language verbal and written communication skills.
  • At least an honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, with postgraduate qualifications in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness or similar preferred.
