Job Summary
SUMMARY
You will be working as a member of the Mainframe IT infrastructure support team. Our mission is to provide the IBM system Z infrastructure (hardware and software) required by the ZSO business unit R&D, Sales and Customer Support organizations. You will work in conjunction with the Mainframe IT team members and with the various ZSO teams to define, configure and make available the appropriate subsystems for their product development and testing purposes. In addition, you will be responsible for installing the software service, e.g. IBM RSU & PUT, provided by the manufacturers.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONSRequired (Minimum) QualificationsFive or more years of working with IMS/CICS/MQ Series. DBA skills helpful but not required.A minimum of five years of systems support background, including a working knowledge of using SMP/E to apply IBM maintenance.Expert knowledge of and proficiency with installation, configuration and maintenance processes.Other qualifications:Expert knowledge of and proficiency with IBM products and utilities; prefer experience with BMC utilities.Thorough problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work issues to resolution, and independent work habits are necessary requirements.Working knowledge of z/OS systems administration, including USSWorking knowledge of: TSO, ISPF, SDSF, JES2/JES3, JCL, SMF, MXG, SAS coding, REXX scripting/codingAbility to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks.Ability to remain calm, cordial, and effective during the resolution of time critical system interruptions/difficulties/failures.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
JOB DUTIESInstalls, tests, implements, maintains, enhances, interfaces and supports any or all of the following subsystems, and infrastructure applications and/or associated facilities:IMS, CICS, MQ, Websphere Application Server, DB2, including IBM products, BMC products and other ISV products.Provides customer support for users of the software and subsystems.Build and support subsystems for use by all R&D.Provide and support demo environments for all products used by the software consultants and international consultants.Implement IBM PUT & RSU maintenance monthly to keep mainframe systems at the latest software service levels.Perform problem analysis and work with IBM to resolve problems on all supported subsystems.Communicate effectively with R&D users and management levels.Work with R&D Mainframe IT support group to test operating system and program products to insure compatibility with vendor-supplied changes.Participate in vendor early ship/early support programs as needed.Participate in BMC beta/early ship/early support programs whenever possible and feasible.Implement new hardware and software technologies as required.Develops documentation and provides knowledge transfer to peers.Participating in project teams as subject matter expert, relating to the support of existing technologies and the selection and implementation of new technologies.Demonstrate teamwork support by expressing a collaborative attitude and sharing technical know-how.Support BMC disaster recovery/business continuity programs as directed.
