About the Team and Role
Join the Product team that develops Cognite Data Fusion , a robust platform enabling asset-intensive industries to leverage operational data at scale. You ll work in autonomous, cross-functional teams focused on delivering critical services, including authentication and authorization, that protect privileged customer data.

As a Backend Engineer, you will:
  • Develop and maintain scalable, secure backend features for CDF.
  • Make architectural decisions balancing synchronous and asynchronous designs.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code integrated via continuous integration pipelines.
  • Collaborate across engineering, product, and customer success teams to shape product direction.
  • Monitor and improve service performance, reliability, and security.
  • Proactively address technical debt and vulnerabilities.
  • Keep documentation clear and up-to-date.

What We re Looking For
  • Strong hands-on experience with software development in languages like Kotlin, Java, Python, or Rust.
  • Ability to learn new languages and use the best fit for the task.
  • Experience with large-scale cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with SaaS product environments is a plus.
  • Expertise in designing and maintaining large-scale infrastructure and web services.
  • Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, software design.
  • Proven ability to prioritize work for maximum impact.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Collaborative mindset working across teams with shared technical stacks.
