About the Role:

• As a Product Manager on the Data Governance team at Confluent, you ll contribute to the mission of building the world s best event streaming platform. With the sharp rise of real-time data, Apache Kafka, and event-driven systems, the need for organizational governance over data in motion is growing fast. While the tools to build and maintain long-term, compatible event streams do exist, the ability to safely and effectively share these streams across teams for more widespread use has not. This need is most pressing for businesses deploying distributed, event-driven microservices built by small, disparate teams of streaming data experts.


• As part of our Stream Governance product portfolio, the Confluent Schema Registry is critical for our customers to deliver trusted, high-quality data streams to the business and maintain data integrity as services evolve. You ll be responsible for the continued success of the Confluent Schema Registry and take it to new heights as you develop a growth strategy that puts it at the center of every customer streaming implementation.You ll become the trusted resource for your product, making sure that the engineering, design, sales, and marketing have what they need to make the right tradeoffs, build the right product, and grow it successfully in the market.

Key Attributes:

• Experience building and supporting enterprise-grade products as an engineer, product manager, or solutions architect.
• Experience building, writing, maintaining, and defending a clear product roadmap and backlog backed by user stories and customer research.
• Experience as a product manager although exceptions might be made for seasoned engineers with a strong customer focus that wants to make the move to product.
• Exceptional written and presentation skills. At Confluent we rely heavily on documents to explain the vision and facilitate concrete communication.
• Empathy for all disciplines of a growing enterprise technology company including engineering, sales, marketing, and business development. A solid understanding of how Kafka is used by developers and operators and how cloud-first enterprise software companies add value.
• Ability to build relationships with co-workers and customers located around the world.
