Position Overview

Treasury

Treasury at Deutsche Bank is responsible for the sourcing, management and optimization of Deutsche Banks financial resources and providing high quality steering to the business on financial resource deployment. This is underpinned by a best-in-class integrated and consistent Treasury risk framework, which enables Treasury to clearly identify the Banks resource demands, transparently set incentives by allocating resource costs to businesses and manage to evolving regulation. Treasurys fiduciary mandate, which encompasses the Banks funding pools, asset and liability management (ALM) and liquidity reserves management, supports businesses in delivering on their strategic targets at global and local level. Further, Treasury manages the optimization of all financial resources through all lenses to implement the groups strategic objective and maximize long term return on average tangible shareholders equity (RoTE).

The current role is part of Treasury Office in DBC Mumbai. The role requires interactions with all key hubs i.e. London, New York, Frankfurt and Singapore.

Function Description:

The Group Capital Management (GCM) function within Treasury oversees the governance framework and the active management of solvency, leverage and bail-in ratios to ensure the bank is well positioned externally and efficiently deploys its resources internally.

The GCM team has the remit to plan and challenge the distribution of CET1 ratio, Leverage ratio and TLAC/MREL ratio related resources to support Group ambitions, and to then manage plan execution and steer through disclosing actuals, forecasting, scenario testing, limit setting, and identification of threats/downsides and proposal of contingent management actions. GCM also co-ordinates the integrated countermeasure identification and aggregation across the group (covering liquidity as well as capital)

In addition the function articulates and documents the framework for Capital Management including methodologies, policies and procedures.

Role Description:

The balance sheet management team is looking to hire in Mumbai in order to strengthen the analytical toolset which it uses to monitor and steer the banks financial resource deployment. The core deliverables for the roles are

  • Moving a Capital Metrics reporting tool from excel to a sustainable database solution
  • Automating the data flows from the source systems used to provide the underlying data and providing quality assurance over the data inputs
  • Supporting the refinement of the analytics and product segmentation used in the reporting based on available data and understanding of the optimal level of granularity
  • Designing various Capital reports to outline trends
  • Designing standard reporting process to measure Capital utilization of different business divisions
  • Support for ad hoc analysis to support major decisions

Suitable candidate would have

Core Skills

  • Education background in Engineering preferably from IITs, BITS, NITs, IISc or ISI or an advanced degree in math, statistics, financial engineering, computer science or other quantitative fields
  • CFA/FRM qualification is a plus
  • Very strong analytical skills and numeracy
  • Strong database skills to enabling candidate to create a robust tool based on multiple data sources and an ability to build towards a true strategic implementation in coordination with other functions
  • Sufficient familiar with balance sheets and income statements to enable understanding of the economic concepts underlying the reporting
  • Prior experience with prudential regulatory concepts (RWA, Regulatory Leverage, LCR, NSFR) a significant plus

Experience/ Exposure:

  • Multiple years of database/programming experience
  • 6+ years coding experience in Python/C++/SQL
  • Experience in reporting and financial modelling
  • Previous Treasury or Treasury related experience a significant plus
