The Chief Data Office (CDO) is a corporate function in the Technology, Data and Innovation division with responsibility for the enablement of expert management and use of data assets across the bank. We do this by establishing and enforcing data principles, policy and standards, through the development and execution of data strategy and through the provision of expertise, training, tools, frameworks, tools and platforms.

We are seeking an engaging, skilled and motivating leader to drive the implementation of the Data Strategy and the creation of a centre of excellence in Data architecture, technology, governance, data science and operations in Pune. You will lead an interesting cross functional team and work with CDO functional heads to develop capabilities and services are deployed effectively and achieve the goals of the CDO and of IT and Data Strategy.

You will build a strong technical and operational team of 30-40 and integrate them with their colleagues around the globe to provide first class development of software and data models and exceptional support of data governance, controls and data quality management processes.

Your key responsibilities

Joining at a pivotal point in the maturity of data governance and application of data science, you will have a significant opportunity to contribute to the long term goals of the group and work with partners in business and infrastructure divisions bank wide. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Build a strong technical team with to support the CDO functions, including logical and physical data modelling, data science and analytics development, data lineage and metadata management, data governance, quality assurance and data quality management.
  • Ensure a high quality result through use of best practices and expertise combined with well-designed processes and controls, including agile delivery, strong delivery planning and continuous improvement.
  • Communication of status, identification of risks and issues both within the immediate team and the broader set of CDO commitments, processes, policies and practices; provide thought leadership in data.
  • Design and implement the operating model to create an effective unit, leveraging the knowledge and business proximity of global partners to achieve shared goals
  • Represent the Chief Data Office and the Data Strategy within the region, with a focus on improving data architecture practices within the engineering community, with accountability to the Chief Data Officer.

Your skills and experience

We are continuing to develop our talent pool to support and accelerate our plans and you will lead and shape this team and lead an expert function, define the operating model and drive outcomes and operational quality. To be successful, you will need to have:

  • A track record of building and developing teams with global responsibilities, attracting talent to support our ambitions with a talented, diverse and sustainable work force.
  • Experience in managing scaled and complex concurrent delivery streams in both change and operational capacities, using agile methods.
  • Exceptional people management skills, demonstrating the ability to develop and motivate those at all stages in their career and to create the environment, though culture and structure, for sustained success.

  • Extended experience in one or more relevant technical domain from data governance, data architecture or data science and analytics as a practitioner and a leader. Appropriate software management and delivery may be a suitable alternative.
