Role Description - Summary
This role is for Software Development lead responsible for design development and unit testing software applications. The candidate is expected to work closely with Lead Software Development Manager and other key stake holders to ensure good quality, maintainable, scalable and high performing software applications are delivered to users. He/She should be coming from a strong technological background. Should be hands on and be able to work independently requiring minimal technical/tool guidance. Should be able to technically guide and mentor junior resources in the team. Work closely with team members and vendor team to design and develop software. Should have good communication skill and strong positive outlook.
Responsibilities / Tasks
- This role will be primarily responsible for creating good quality software designs and hence strong sense of software design principles is required
- Will get involved with hands-on code development
- Thorough testing of developed software
- Mentor junior team members in both technical and functional front
- Do code review of other team members
- Participate and manage daily stand-up meetings
- Articulate issues and risks to management in timely manner
- This role will require 80% Technical involvement and 20% on other activities like team handling, mentoring, status reporting, year-end appraisals
- Analyse software defects and fix them in timely manner
- Work closely with Stakeholders and other teams like Functional Analysis and Quality Assurance teams
Experience / Exposure
Must have
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in writing Python scripts
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Hadoop framework and Hadoop commands
- Ability to configure and create HIVE tables using files stored in HDFS
- Should have worked on basic SQL queries and should be comfortable querying HIVE tables
- Good verbal communication leadership skills
Nice to have
- Experience with Kafka a plus
- Familiarity to Jira and ALM
- Worked in Agile/Scrum software development atmosphere.
