Job Description Summary

The Divisional Risk and Control Specialist is responsible for delivering specific aspects of the risk and control strategy for a sub-division. This includes monitoring risk and control activities, risk based control reporting of key issues, performance and validation of cyclical activities such as annual control self assessments. It would also include, control testing, incident research, remediation monitoring and other ad hoc control initiatives and projects. The Divisional Risk and Control Specialist will liaise with other risk and control functions, on a management level to assure the integration of risk initiatives and projects.

Your key responsibilities


  • ORDS Client Data Remediations Objectives
    • Review client reference data held in the Banks strategic client onboarding platform cRDS dbCAR
    • Remediate all known data issues and gaps to ensure data readiness
    • Reduce time to market and increase accuracy for Tax and Regulatory compliance programs
    • GAP and Root Cause Analysis prioritising Policy, KOP and systemic issues .

Missing or incorrect set-ups of Business Relationships (BRs) have a significant impact on the accuracy and validity of the banks trade and transaction reporting. Working closely with a range of stakeholders including front office (FO) and middle office (MO) teams Client Data Remediation (CDR) is responsible for the identification, categorisation, prioritisation and cleansing of data quality issues associated with BRs with the aim of assuring regulatory and tax readiness.

Role Description Summary

An AVP within the CDR team plays a significant role in ensuring agreed standards and procedures are duly followed whilst delivering against service level agreements and remediation programme objectives and milestones. This role assumes responsibility for the overall performance of the team (quality and timeliness) and the design, co-ordination and execution of remediation plans and activities. The AVP is responsible for periodic tracking, and reporting of key risk indicators (KRIs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) whilst ensuring escalation procedures are in place and adhered to.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Detailed understanding of the data challenges and the design/co-ordination of remediation plans
  • Maintenance of the book of work for each client or client segment jointly with the Business
  • Manage delivery against agreed timelines and milestones with key stakeholders / Business
  • Progress tracking and reporting through agreed KRI and KPIs
  • Daily review and reporting of overall team performance in terms of quality and timeliness
  • Improving quality and timeliness of output through training programmes
  • Manage recording, tracking and reporting all known Risks and Issues
  • Securing and qualifying data sources in collaboration with the Data Analytics team to support the remediation process
  • Review and implementation of departmental and function specific Operating Procedures (KOP)
  • Working with Business Analyst and technology resource to design systematic change .

Experience/Skills:

  • A track record in people management, experience in supervising and displays ability to work in virtual global teams and a matrix organisation
  • Demonstration of communication, influencing and presentation skills experienced in managing Client relationships to drive change and represent the Banks interest
  • Relevant experience in one or more specific operational/product areas
  • Product and end-to-end system knowledge in the product line
  • A proven, considerable level of analytical, problem solving and resource planning skills
  • Experience in Data Management, Data Analytics, Business Analysis and Financial Services
  • Ability to work with Master Data Management tools, DQ tools and SQL
  • Strong and well-developed relationship / stakeholder management skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving experience
  • Basic knowledge and awareness of (related) business solutions in the marketplace
  • Strong knowledge of business analysis methods and tools
  • Open minded, able to share information, knowledge and expertise with peers & team members
  • Highly motivation to fix issues
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English and local language (written/verbal) as appropriate
