Job Title: Tax Processing Operator

Location: Bangalore, India

Position Description

The Tax Processing Analyst is responsible for the operational processing of specific tax-related processes, residing within the Tax Utility, including but not limited to: Tax reclaims. Tax reporting. Relief and Source processing. The Tax Processing Analyst has responsibility to complete all daily process activities in line with the Risk and Control framework present in the Tax Utility, escalate where issues are identified or processes are not completed within existing key time lines. The Tax Processing Analyst has direct interaction with internal and external parties including trading desks, counterparties and clients, and must ensure accurate and timely responses.

Your key responsibilities

  • Managing the day to day processing/deliverables for operational tax processes like Financial Transaction Tax, Stamp Tax, and Transfer Fees Reconciliation etc. for the businesses/regions supported by Operational Tax
  • Advise on the right level of documentation and tax rates to be applied per country/ counterparty status
  • Ensure that there are no misses in any of the internal/external or regulatory deadlines,
  • Ensure continuous maintenance of relevant Tax data on back office systems
  • Review the processes undertaken within the team and redevelop and redesign where cost savings/efficiencies can be made
  • Drive regulatory changes in partnership with IT and Business within operations.
  • Interpretation of amendments to the existing rules and regulations pertaining to the relevant tax.
  • Mange the Monthly/Annual reporting and relevant payment processes to the regulators
  • Ensure all client (internal and external) queries are dealt with in a timely and effective manner. Experience of directly dealing with Clients would be an added benefit
  • Produce Tax MIS and maintain full audit trails
  • Knowledge of Equities Trade Life cycle, Reconciliation of Nostro and internal accounts, Exposure to back office systems and Reconciliation systems like TLM, etc. will be an added advantage

Your skills and experience

Operational Tax is part of Group Technology and Operations and is responsible for managing and supporting all operational tax processes for Deutsche Bank AG and associated entities. The Tax operations team is comprised of 5 sub processes 1) Financial Transaction Tax 2) Cost Basis 3) Derivative Tax 4) Stamp Tax 5) FATCA 6) Tax Reclaims. The tax process is responsible for managing key regulatory tasks like,reporting and payment of French and Italian Financial Transaction Tax to the Tax Authorities, FATCA and CRS reporting, allocation of payments, calculation of NRA tax and reconciliation of tax applied between the DB systems and the tax authorities

The candidate will be responsible for and manage operational support for the reporting, payment and reconciliation functions of Financial Transaction Tax, Stamp Tax, Transfer Fee and other such taxes wherein the core responsibilities will include but not limited to, the day-to-day processing functions within pre-defined timelines and ensuring the process is run in a controlled manner wherein all the relevant Key Processing Indicators are achieved and delivered as agreed. The activities also include the responsibility of filing tax returns, tax reporting, tax payments and tax audits.

The candidate would be expected to be well verse with the various Tax regulations and have the ability to understand the various aspects and concepts of taxes like Financial Transaction Tax, Stamp Tax, Withholding Tax, Reclaims filing, Reporting, and Payments etc.

Experience/Exposure

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accounts- Reconciliation, Substantiation, MIS, Payments
  • Knowledge of Tax Transaction and Stamp Taxes
  • Settlements Financial instruments, Custody & Asset management
  • Knowledge/ Experience in reconciliations
  • Exposure to Equities Settlements / Asset Management preferred
  • Strong time management, organizational, planning and follow-up skills; ability to multi-task effectively
  • Exposure to TLM
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in MS office applications
  • Strong capacity to assimilate other stakeholders perspectives and fast learning abilities
  • Ability to use sound judgment to meet regulatory standards
  • General knowledge of Business Banking product set
