Duff & Phelps Asia Restructuring and Disputes division delivers financial services and strategic advice to companies and other stakeholders in distressed situations and in relation to contentious matters within the Asia region. The team provides financial restructuring advisory services to support our clients interests.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent in our fast-paced team work on a variety of assignments, including providing industry research and inputs into restructuring plans, business models, company valuations, distressed mergers and acquisitions strategies, portfolio optimisation, divestures, financial advisory, due diligence and other financial and consulting services to stakeholders in the context of restructuring and disputes. The position requires a strong focus on quantitative and qualitative analysis, processing of relevant industry related accounting and financial data, research abilities and financial modeling paired with natural curiosity of understanding client perspectives. The role entails a high tolerance for non-linear workstreams and tight deadlines and will involve extensive client interaction. A successful candidate will:

  • Aspire to become an expert in restructuring and disputes across broad range of industry sectors, providing insights and expertise to our clients. This includes understanding the principles for effective restructuring and insolvency and rights of stakeholders, strategic shifts in the industry, macroeconomic trends and regulatory changes related to the discipline.
  • Analyse, create and follow up on the development of financial restructuring plans involving scenario analysis, working capital and balance sheet reviews, and transaction and valuation modelling.
  • Have the ability to navigate working with sometimes incomplete or disorderly source data to produce rational output despite such constraints and provide insights to the situation through an understanding of key drivers.
  • Support the execution of transactions which at times may require operational type support and aspects of financial due diligence.
  • Proactively ensure all areas of your work are completed on time with any deviations to this being agreed with the manager in advance;
  • Identify and discuss with the manager issues and obstacles as they arise, suggesting solutions to overcome and progress matters;
  • Provide regular updates to the manager as agreed;
  • Be able to work on several different assignments effectively at one time;
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Provide guidance, motivation, mentoring and assistance to junior members of the team, assisting them with their training and progression in Duff & Phelps and undertake appraisals and other actions as required;
  • Draft non-standard correspondence;
  • Adhere to Duff and Phelpss systems, policy requirements and relevant Health & Safety policy.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors / Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar with a strong interest in Finance.
  • Qualified CA / ACCA.
  • 5-10 years financial / commercial experience in Big 4, investment banking or equivalent, with experience in restructuring, audit, management accounting, valuation or M&A.
  • Previous experience in restructuring, financial advisory or insolvency considered to be an asset
  • Strong desire to focus on a career in restructuring and insolvency with a flexible mindset towards problem solving.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment and willingness to immerse yourself in the technical aspects of restructuring and insolvency.
  • Ability to conduct research, gather, organise and analyse data and information to support analytics and other consulting deliverables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Asian language(s) is regarded as an asset.
  • Solid academic track record
