Job Summary
  • Automation engineer to augment growing DevOps team, working in tandem with 2 core product development teams
  • Required:
  • Strong conversational skills: Interactive solutioning and communication of ideas/risks/options essential, with possible communication with executives, clients and vendors
  • Strong working knowledge of New Relic APM/Browser/Alerting/Dashboards
  • Solid written documentation skills (team processes documented heavily in Confluence)
  • Capable working knowledge of AWS focusing specially on Fargates/containers, API Gateway, Cloudwatch, CloudFormation scripts, S3, Lambda, RDS, Route 53
  • Daily overlap/interactions with core STL team during 1st half of STL business day
  • Working knowledge of networking, transit gateways, tracing data through environments
  • Participation in alert rotation, available for infrequent but urgent live support for the platform during incidents
  • Work balance:
  • Coding/developing new automations/insights: 80% (java, New Relic, scripting, etc)
  • Operations review and support: 20%
  • Core responsibilities:
  • Coding technologies include: java, angular, nodejs, New Relic scripting, xpath
  • Mentor and coach some existing team members in New Relic capabilities
  • Ability to analyze and identify findings in New Relic APM
  • Setting up New Relic policies and alerts
  • Coding and scripting to enable platform automations in our growing CI/CD capabilities
  • Maintain offshore-shift oversight on dashboards and 1st tier interventions on support processes
  • Analyze Oracle database performance using Solarwinds
  • Implement and augment Jenkins pipeline integrations
  • Build and augment unit and integration tests
  • Contribute and support the evolution of coding standards
  • Abide by corporate and department change management processes for coding and configuration changes in production
  • Participate in design and code reviews, pull request governance, quality initiatives
  • Support and contribute to common CI/CD processes shared across three development teams
  • Other areas/touchpoints:

  • Knowledge of Oracle OCI helpful, but not essential
