The Vrbo UX Design team works together to build thoughtful, easy-to-use experiences that put vacation rentals within reach for millions of people worldwide. As an integral part of our team, UX Content Strategists are the voice of Vrbo for the customers who use our products. Our content guides travelers and property owners to one another, and their destinations whether their goal is a group vacation or financial independence.

Our UX Content Strategy team looks after English source content in the product interface (from first-time-user onboarding to complex B2B and B2C apps), in system notifications and other transactional communications, and the help-center knowledge base. We also partner with other teams including Brand, Localization, Engineering, and Design Systems to develop structures and standards that ensure a common voice, vocabulary, and set of conventions for our product content. Sometimes we even tell product teams theres no content needed for their feature.

Who you are:

  • Proven experience of 5+years in content strategy, content design, UX writing, or related fields (e.g., information architecture) B2C experience a plus.
  • A diverse portfolio that reflects your critical-thinking and analytical skills as well as the breadth of your content-strategy toolkit.
  • Clear examples of how you've already done some of the things we're looking for in the "Main responsibilities" section above.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Google Suites, Figma, Confluence, and JIRA a plus.
  • A proven ability that you can establish trust and get results with product managers, marketing partners, and fellow designers.
  • A genuine passion for travel and our brand.

What youll do:

As a Sr. UX Content Strategist on our team, youll work out in front to make content clearer and more meaningful for our Traveler (B2C) Web and app products. And, as a key member of our UX Design team, you'll help transform customer problems into user-experience opportunities crafting, testing, and launching product content thats usable, useful, and fabulous to the families and guests in our vacation rental marketplace.

Though not a manager, you'll serve as an ambassador for our field, and an advocate and role model for our junior team members. Drawing from user personas, customer insights, messaging frameworks, and other sources, youll identify, investigate, and present creative solutions to content-design problems across a suite of B2C-leaning product interfaces, and you'll participate in lab testing that enables you to see the impact of your team's work on the products we design

  • Own the UX content strategy voice and tone, editorial and narrative continuity, content standards, structure, and patterns across multiple features in our Traveler (B2C) product design team.
  • Seek content problems across all layers of the user experience, from strategy to structure to the surface.
  • Partner with UX design leads and engineers to bring order, structure, willingness, and purpose to our product content (both presentation-layer and "under the hood").
  • Demonstrate outstanding skills in UX writing (UI copy, educational content, transactional emails, and related assets) using agile rhythms and lightweight UX practices.
  • Partner with our Brand and Product Marketing teams to develop shared goals and metrics for content.
  • Partner with Policy and Legal to bring a human-centered perspective to our legally mandated content.
  • Partner with Localization to provide clarity and context for our translators.
  • Chip in ideas and standards back to our Design System team and help to update our style guide and content patterns as products evolve.
  • Participate in content critique and peer reviews, both for your product areas and across the wider team.
  • Help to educate our internal partners on the value of content strategy.
