About the Team: The Large Appliances (White Goods) BU is amongst the fastest growing businesses in Flipkart and is poised to hit a USD 2Bn revenue by 2020. Flipkart recently revamped its end-to-end buying experience for Appliances by helping customers easily discover, shortlist and purchase them. This innovative one-stop-shop now offers everything you need to shop confidently for TVs, washing machines, refrigerators, ACs and other small home appliances - the value and convenience of online shopping, as well as reliable post-purchase benefits such as warranty and installation.

The Small Home Appliances (SHA) business is a critical strategic portfolio within the Appliances BU. SHA comprises a wide range of 50+ product verticals ranging from Irons, Juicer Mixers, Kettles to Water & Air Purifiers, Vacuum Cleaners, Chimneys & Inverters. It is the biggest unit driver, customer acquisition and growth engine for theAppliances BU, accounting for >50% of units sold, >60% of new customers acquired, and growing at >80% y-o-y. It is poised to be a USD 1Bn revenue business by 2022. It is also critical from an overall Flipkart context, as it is a key category for core customer segments like Female and Married customers.

This dynamic and exciting portfolio is one of the most diverse within the e-commerce industry, with products as small as a steam iron to as large as a chimney, price-points ranging from 50k - and touching every aspect of the customers home and kitchen. Given the diverse and fast-paced nature of this business, a leader who successfully runs this business would be equipped to lead many other businesses at Flipkart going forward.

What youll do:

A Category Leader at Flipkart will head the P&L of the business end-to-end, doing leadership across online/offline retail to provide an enhanced customer value proposition and make Flipkart the research and purchase destination for their categories in India. Key KRAs would include business growth, strategy, profitability, exclusivity, complete P&L, team development, vendor relationship management etc. This person would have the opportunity to createan impact in the industry and in FK and place oneself in line for higher positions in the BU or other parts of the org. Work with different teams across the organization to get a 360-degree exposure and influence. A lot of the work will be done for the first time in the country with deep category understanding across a diverse set of categories, and hence a significant amount of thought leadership will be expected over and above flawless execution skills. Business strategy

Develop the business model: Go deep, understand where opportunities are and create a viable business model to service the opportunities

Know the market: Stay on top of trends in an ever-changing landscape, find opportunities and prioritize based on size, internal capabilities, etc.

Know the customer: Understand connected customer behaviour, develop new customer insights

Know the competition: Understand on-line and off-line players. React as and when necessary

Know the value chain: Understand vendor & Flipkart value chain end-to-end, identify opportunities for P&L optimization and profitability

Influence the leadership: Convert strategies into action by liaising with cross-functional leadership and drive the changes required

Vendor network management & operations

Lead a vendor-relations team to identify strategic partners, negotiate better terms of trade and deals for customers

Create a comprehensive Vendor management strategy and governance framework

Put in processes & metrics to scale the business

Use technology to scale operations and expand selection

Work with Supply Chain teams to ensure product availability

Think big - unlock value for consumers, Flipkart and vendor partners

Merchandising and Sales strategy

Identify and drive sources of customer and transaction growth for the category

Own pricing strategy based on market potential, consumer insights, margins, competitive signals, etc.

Drive necessary promotions

Create a sustainable business model in the category for ongoing business

Identify the growth areas and new business scope within the existing category

Expand selection, enable its discovery and ensure conversion

People leadership

Build, retain and groom a strong team of 20+ highly talented and driven individuals to deliver across functions

Set goals, define KPIs and ensure team tracks effectively towards goals

What youll need

Educational background MBA from the top institute, 8 to 12 years of experience.

Strong understanding of technology and business

Knowledge of Internet, Retail, the consumer goods industry is a plus

Desire and ability to think like the customer

Ability to translate strategies into execution plans and take them to completion

Highly analytical and detail-oriented

Willing to take calculated risks to grow the category

Excellent verbal and written communication with interpersonal skills

Ability to connect with people across teams & levels

Proven people leadership skills Must be willing to learn

Strong bias for Action - Flipkart works at a very rapid pace
