Job Description

ITIL Event management definition:

Event is defined as detectable occurrence that has significance for the delivery of IT service. Events are created by Configuration Item (CI) (Example: Servers, Applications, Network/ Security devices) or the monitoring tools.

Event management is monitoring the events that occur through changes and improvements in IT infrastructure. Event Management ensures that all CIs are constantly monitored and define a process to categorize these events so that appropriate action can be taken if required.

Eligibility Criteria.

  • Candidate must be a Graduate with excellent communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of infra device monitoring process and monitoring tools (like Solarwinds and NNMI).
  • Candidate must have basic knowledge of ITIL Concepts.
  • Preferred ITIL Foundation/ Intermediate, CCNA, MCSE Certified.
  • Candidate should be willing to work in 24X7 environment (Including night shifts)
  • Candidate should have basic knowledge of Network devices example: Router, Switches, WAP, WLC.
  • Candidate should have 18 months work experience.

Roles and Responsibilities of Event Manager:

  • Event Manger is responsible for active monitoring of the CIs for their status and availability.
  • Event Manager should be able to host activity bridge with all tracks and send updates to all stakeholder.
  • Any deviation from normal operation highlighted by the monitoring tool should be communicated to the appropriate team for action as per the EM Process.
  • Event Manager is responsible for governing the alert tickets assigned to the tracks that are generated by the system.
  • Ensuring that technical teams are gracefully suppressing the issues and closing tickets within SLA.
  • Event Manager is responsible to lead the daily governance calls for the events that are not getting closed within specific time limit.
  • Event Manager is accountable to lead major change activities by engaging technical teams over the call and ensuring that the activities are completed successfully.
  • Early detection of the incidents with the help of event trends and mitigating impact by coordinating with technical tracks.
  • Identifying trends for repetitive alerts and creating service improvement plans for technical tracks to reduce the alert count.
  • Coordinating with HCL Vendors ensuring HA is maintained in the day to day operations.
  • Publishing reports and dashboards to the management on regular intervals on the health and status of the IT infrastructure environment.
