Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION E-Boosting Powertrain System Engineer applies a detailed knowledge of powertrain technology to critically analyze electric boosting system performance and its impact on engine & powertrain. Among his/her assignments belong: Investigation new technologies to allow Garrett to maintain its technical leadership, support of product strategy development with proper technology down selection and target settings Support customer advanced engineering projects or special boosting development requests. Translate new boosting needs in new product targets or new way to study the boosting system Work with advanced/innovation departments or center of excellences to identify proper technical solutions that will suit development targets Responsibilities: As primary customer interface, in partnership with the Customer and Core teams, evaluate special requests from OEM Pre-development projects, R&D centers, Tier 1 suppliers, and help assess when Garrett should provide technical support Capable to simulate real life behavior of a powertrain system Capable to perform tests on powertrain unit either internally or to coordinate outsourced test campaigns Support powertrain prototyping/design activity within powertrain organization Help feed the innovation pipeline for Garrett technology - Boosting and beyond Attend/participate to key technical engine symposium. Continuously expand the relationship network in the automotive industry Participate in key Garrett internal management processes (Innovation/Local/Global PACs, Technology Roadmaps, etc.) Interface with the key internal product teams (Application/Business team, Platform teams and fundamentals teams) Perform target setting validation for electric boosting needs and run Value assessment to support phase exits and market placing Deploy, in partnership with marketing, the VOC process to define robust target setting for Garrett next generation products Support powertrain activities linked to global marketing (AOP, STRAP) Requirements: M.S. degree in Internal combustion engines or, Mechanics or, Aerodynamic or, Thermodynamics Minimum 5 years working experience in R&D and /or Powertrain development Equivalent experience in turbocharger/ boosting systems development or other suppliers is also considered In-depth understanding of internal combustion engine (Diesel and SI) system, including Engine Management System Practical experience of engine calibration and/ or vehicle testing Direct experience with 1-D engine simulation tools such as GT SUITE or WAVE or MATLAB/ Simulink preferred Experience as Application/ Product engineer in Turbo suppliers or, as technical customer interface for OEMs as a Tier 1 employee We offer: Pioneering automotive technology Working on interesting engineering challenges Freedom to implement creative solutions Professional growth opportunities Skillful, supportive team Attractive package Working in a friendly, international environment
