Job Summary

Description Summary of This Role Design and implement solutions based on various middleware technologies, such as WebSphere, WebLogic, JBOSS, IIS, Apache, SunOne Web Server, Tibco, Pega Solutions, Webservice and XML Messaging/Gateway, between two or more systems within multiple target platforms that may include Windows, Unix/Linux or z/OS. Evaluate security models of vendor middleware technologies to ensure compliance with current company policies and/or industry regulations. Solve technical problems which involve large scale inter-disciplinary objectives with multiple, heterogeneous, distributed and/or mainframe systems that are embedded in networks at multiple levels. Hold and Maintain a proficiency in middleware technologies and industry best practices. What Part Will You Play? The Middleware System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the HP / MicroFocus / OpenText uCMDB application. This includes discovery, service modeling, TQL creation, integrations, reporting, application health and overall application support. Evaluates user needs and system functionality in order to ensure that customer-facing production and internal business systems meet the needs of individuals and projects. Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the middleware technology field, understanding the landscape of solutions within the industry to determine appropriate direction and potential needed change in direction. Provides guidance for the design and implementation of high-availability solutions to meet customer needs through detailed requirements gathering and independent analysis of customer / product needs. Presents technology recommendations to senior leaders effectively, working on multi-year project enhancement decisions. Creates custom scripts or applications to integrate into product API's and meet end-to-end customer requirements where needed. Identifies and applies innovative solutions to update existing middleware technologies while collaborating with appropriate departments and/or vendors to ensure continued functionality. Reviews application and system logs to identify exception errors and performance bottlenecks. Determines the necessary course of action and takes appropriate corrective actions, to include engaging appropriate support groups to apply corrective actions. Collaborates with System Administrators, development groups, or vendors on the testing and application patches and/or upgrades. Schedules batch jobs and patches for middleware technologies. Implements major product version upgrades. Acts as the SME with a technology expertise to provide guidance to less experienced team members with debugging application and technology faults, generating and analyzing trace files, to identify source of faults and restore expected service. Creates and maintains documentation standards proactively to exceed required standards for internal and regulatory compliance. Stays abreast to changes in the industry, identifies potential impacts or enhancements, reviews feedback from less experienced team members and provides recommendations to management. Implements standardized automation of procedures to mitigate risks associated with manual processing errors. Carries an automatic notification device and is available for after-hours on-call support. Maintains regular and predictable attendance at the worksite. Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation. What Are We Looking For in This Role? Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Relevant Experience or Degree in: Major in Computer Science strongly preferred, other majors considered. Willing to accept additional experience in lieu of a degree. Experience in managing and maintaining the uCMDB application with the ability to branch out into other applications within the Governance Technology team scope. Experience with HP / MicroFocus / OpenText uCMDB for 5+ years Responsible for overall uCMDB application administration Able to work both independently as well as collaboratively achieving results within established timeframes with minimal supervision Experience with middleware technology in varying environments. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree Major in Computer Science or Business Administration / Management Information Systems What Are Our Desired Skills and Capabilities?
