Job Description: Lead R&D Engr/Scientist- Adsorbent

Roles and Responsibilities:

Accountable for adsorbents technology development projects with emphasis and leadership of Mercury removal & Dehydration adsorbent technology areas from concept to commercialization.

Act as a regional expert for adsorbent technology with emphasis on Mercury removal and Dehydration adsorbent technology in order to provide faster technical support, solution to an existing problem and proposal to leverage an opportunity.

Prepare STRAP and AOP for the technology areas.

Lead projects in adsorbents technology development with emphasis on Mercury removal and Dehydration adsorbent technology areas. Implement productivity and cycle time reduction measures for faster project delivery,using Z21 and lean six sigma methodology and tools.

Build awareness of competitive threats, keep track of new materials and new manufacturing process technologies and suggest projects to bridge gaps.

Deploy open innovation (university / industry collaboration) to take advantage of new ideas, and to leverage skills and capabilities that are not available inhouse.

Provide technical support to sales and sales support to offer a competitive solution to local and global business.

Ensure alignment and synergy with other R&D centers to avoid re-work, minimize duplication and benefit from lessons learned.

Maintain and enhance (as needed) existing lab for adsorbent preparation, scale up and testing.

Act as a mentor to the less experienced scientist / engineers.

Support adsorbent bed design guideline tool development programs by working with global R&D and Technical Service

Basic Qualifications:

Ph D in Chemistry or B. Tech/B.E in Chemical Engineering with minimum 8 yrs experience in adsorbent or heterogeneous catalyst synthesis, characterization and performance evaluation.

Experience in R&D role within the refining, petrochemical or gas processing industries with strong interest in Development work.


Additional Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the capability to work effectively across multiple functional departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong focus on delivering results and identifying alternative solutions when challenges arise.
  • Experience in UniSim and ASPEN tool is plus.
  • Knowledge of UOP technologies: Refining/Petrochemicals/Gas Processing applications
  • Prior industrial & development experience in adsorbent technology is must.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% on an annual basis.
  • Familiar with Six-Sigma tools and their application.
