Job Description:

Have significant responsibility to operate the state s health information exchange network, HealthConnex, in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal laws and regulations. An additional contracted resource is needed to help develop, implement, and further mature the client s internal compliance processes. Additional experience and expertise from a contracted resource regarding organizational and data security controls over electronic Protected Health Information will better position the Department and the clientto make progress toward fulfilling HITRUST CSF and NIST 800-53 risk management frameworks. Such efforts will reduce risk to the Department and the State, help protect citizens sensitive ePHI, and enable continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the development and implementation of a compliance program for the clientthat includes preparation for HITRUST certification.
• Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them.
• Draft and revise policies.
• Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses.
• Evaluate activities to assess compliance risk.
• Collaborate with external auditors and DIT Security Team when needed.
• Set plans to manage a crisis or compliance violation.
• Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices.
• Address employee concerns or questions on compliance.
• Keep abreast of industry standards and business goals.

Qualification:

• Bachelor s degree or equivalent practical experience.
