About the Role

The Senior Research Associate (SRA) will be engaged in the project from the designing and implementation of the data collection phase through to the data management. The SRA is expected to work closely with academic researchers and other senior staff to perform a variety of tasks including:designing of the study, developing survey questionnaires, managing Research Associates, Research Assistants, Interns and survey teams, working with data sets, cleaning and running checks to spot errors, and generally preparing data for analysis, coordinating with local programme partners. The SRA is also expected to help the team in expanding the focus area by writing grant proposals and other Core activities. The SRA is expected to work independently with minimal supervision while working across multiple projects. The role will entail both fields based and office-based work. This position is ideal for those who are seeking to pursue a career in research, academia and public policy.

Background and Qualifications

  • Master s Degree in Economics, Finance, Environment Economics/Policy/Science, Development Studies, or related field is mandatory; with a minimum of 2 years of significant related work experience post Masters.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis packages (e.g. SPSS, STATA, R) preferred
  • Previous experience in development research or work in developing countries of at least 2 years is strongly preferred with special preference to projects with focus on rural and agricultural development.
  • Experience and maturity in relationship management.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and supervise 1-2 RAs.
  • Fluency in English required; fluency in another Indian language is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to deal with uncertainty. Adaptability to project needs and schedules.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects, to be well organized and detail oriented.
  • Willingness to travel required.
