Job Summary:

A Medical Record Review Lead reviews medical records and abstracts all relevant and appropriate codes that are evaluated and treated by providers and ensures that all data and codes are consistent with ICD-9 CM official coding guidelines. His or her role also involves managing the HCC coding process and auditing of medical codes (eg, CPT, ICD, and HCPCS).

Job Description:

The roles and responsibilities of the Medical Record Review Lead include the following:

Adhering to all official coding rules and CMS guidelines for risk adjustment reporting

Ensuring accuracy, completeness, specificity, and appropriateness of diagnosis information

Training associates for American Association for Professional Coder Certification (AAPC) exam

Driving transition toward ICD 10

Creating world-class MRR operational team that consistently meets new benchmarks on productivity, accuracy, compliance, and customer service

Adhering to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies

Desired Skills and Experience:

EducationBSc/MSc/postgraduate in medical background

Experience3-6 years of relevant experience, with minimum 3 years of experience in medical coding and compliance

Understanding the ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT4 guidelines

Ability to handle large-scale MRR operations for multiple clients

Certifications of CPC, CPC-H, CPC-P, or CCS preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to coordinate multiple deliverables from multiple groups

Ability to actively manage and mitigate risks
