Job Title: Lead Software Engineer

Position Summary: Litera is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to help grow our development team. You will participate in the full SDLC from preliminary system analysis to testing and deployment. This hybrid-engineering role includes building high quality and fully performing software that meets quality and software development standards alongside a great team.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop software applications
Lead the design and development for a product
Provide expert level knowledge and guidance on modern software engineering techniques and methodologies for code reviews
Demonstrate expertise in a variety of software concepts (object-oriented design), practices (design patterns), and procedures (troubleshooting defects)
Work with Product Management to prioritize tasks and ensure deadlines are met within the Scrum team
Coach and mentor less experienced team members
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree
7+ years experience implementing full-stack solutions to real business problems
2+ years experience leading a team
Ability to work independently without instructions on most tasks. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Expert understanding of software development principles (object-oriented design, SOLID, etc.)
Experience taking a project through its entire life cycle
Comfortable working in an agile environment and have a working experience with Agile/Scrum
Enthusiastic about problem solving, digging into issues and owning tasks to completion
Strong team player who is open to give and receive feedback
A passion for technology and thrives in a dynamic environment with a focus on creative innovation over absolute completion
Communication and presentation skills

Required Skills:
Experience working with Python - 3 years minimum; Experience with Node.js an advantage
Good understanding of data structures and data architecture principles; Experience working with at least MongoDB / NoSQL - 2 years minimum
Experience working with Elasticsearch - 1 year minimum; Good understanding of search engines / working with Lucene or Solr an advantage
Experience working in Linux environment
Experience working with HTML - 3 years minimum
Experience working with JavaScript - 3 years minimum
Experience working with React - 2 years minimum; Familiarity with Redux an advantage
