Job Summary
Position Overview As a Planning Manager, you will oversee and manage the planning of various construction projects, with a specific focus on the pre-contract (procurement) and post-contract stages. Your role will involve creating long-term plans, analyzing productivity trends, and ensuring alignment with the overall construction objectives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This is a leadership role, requiring expertise in project management, scheduling, and a deep understanding of the construction process. Key Responsibilities Work Knowledge and Skills Stage of Planning: Knowledge of pre-contract (procurement) and post-contract stages. Work Package Understanding: Familiarity with structural, finishes, industrial structures, and mechanical/electrical packages. Project Scheduling: Proficient in using MS Project and Primavera P6 for project scheduling. Pre-Contract Work Plan Review: Review basic plans shared by clients and validate them with work packages and required lead times. Baseline Plan Creation: Prepare a baseline integrated plan for the overall project. Vendor Evaluation: Review L1 schedules proposed by contractors/vendors during the bid evaluation process. Work Package Planning: Evaluate work packages and their ordering plans, escalating concerns if necessary. Meetings: Conduct monthly meetings to assess progress and resolve issues. Post-Contract Work Schedule Review: Review and freeze the baseline L2 schedule for each work package contractor/vendor. Resource Planning: Analyze contractor resource plans for alignment with project objectives. Tracking: Track the baseline plan progress for each major vendor. Meetings: Organize and lead monthly meetings to monitor progress and address issues. Documentation and Reporting Record Keeping: Maintain records of monthly project plans versus actual progress. Flagging Concerns: Identify project slippages and support the risk register management. Project Reports: Prepare monthly project reports in collaboration with other team members. Qualifications and Preferred Skills Educational Background: Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering (Master s degree is a plus). Experience: Proven experience as a Project Planner in the construction of hospitals. Technical Skills: Expertise in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and scheduling/ baseline reviews. Project Management: Extensive hands-on experience in Project Management and contracts. Certifications: PMP or similar project management certification is a plus. Problem-Solving: Strong orientation towards problem-solving with the ability to make decisions under pressure. Communication Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders. Additional Requirements Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites as needed. Pressure Handling: Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Attention to Detail: Strong focus on quality and attention to detail. Customer-Focused: Results-oriented with a customer-focused mindset.
