Production Editor Job in Newgen Knowledgeworks (p) Ltd

Newgen is a global prepress editorial and content production supplier. We have offices in India; Texas; UK; the Netherlands; Germany and Malaysia.

We are seeking a US-based project manager to join our team of domestic project managers supporting our university press clients.

Newgen project managers report to an onshore project management team; have direct contact with the production and editorial departments within our client base; manage projects across various disciplines; and carry a full load of titles (up to 15 at a time and 35 40 per year).

Project management responsibilities include:

• manuscript assessment
• scheduling
• author management
• copyedit review
• art assessment
• page proof review
• problem solving
• freelancer management (copy editors, proofreaders, indexers)
• preparation of quotations and status reports.

Strong copyediting skills are required, and candidates will be asked to complete a copyediting test.

Applicants must also possess the ability to manage multiple projects, sometimes on tight schedules, while paying close attention to detail.

Prior book production experience is required, and familiarity with academic publishing is preferred.

Clear and professional communication is essential. Project managers must work independently while maintaining appropriate contact with Newgen onshore managers, production teams in India, authors, freelancers, and clients editorial and production staff.

Required experience:

Minimum 3 years experience in a scholarly, academic, or higher-ed publishing environment

Required education:

Bachelor's Degree
