Your responsibilities will include:

Reporting directly to the Solution Architect Manager Big Data & AA, this role is responsible to perform the necessary leadership, facilitation, analysis, design and Architect tasks related to the development of a Solution Architect in the Big Data and AA domain
The technical domains considered are: Big Data & Advanced Analytics
Primary responsibilities are to establish: Reference Architecture and design and architecture patterns
Roadmaps and governance of the blueprints and standards
A collaborative architecture community across Novartis.

This role is a critical driver for improved alignment and prioritization of IT investments against business objectives.
This role is also a contributor of improved platform and standards lifecycle management leading to reduced cycle times, improved application portfolio rationalization and ultimately a better operating cost structure for IT.
Guides Functional Design Architects, participating and collaborating to key project visioning meetings where significant Big Data & AA technology decisions or design is required Novartis Business Services IT (NBS IT) is working to support Novartis to deliver better patient outcomes through innovative use of information and technology. As technology is reshaping the healthcare industry, IT will be a differentiator for our businesses, inspiring new ideas and enabling Novartis to reimagine medicine.
Define Reference Architecture and architecture patterns Consolidate, Refine and document the existing Big Data & AA architecture patterns Major Accountabilities
Define the reference architecture for the technical domains considered, following the Novartis reference architecture framework
Define the principles & guidelines that guide technology decisions for the enterprise.
Create the detailed process designs necessary to operate the software/service on a day-to-day basis
Roadmaps and governance of the blueprints and standards
Define high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the current and future state, typically in sync with the IT budgeting or other capital planning processes.
Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures and culture) and financial impact of the ETA.
Support definition Big Data & AA strategy and roadmap to drive standardization, harmonization of solutions for all applications/systems in scope
A collaborative architecture community across Novartis
Act as communication and coordination channel through interactions with business domain and other architecture community
Take accountability to ensure adherence with Security and Compliance policies and procedures within Service Delivery scope
Establish, govern and ensure adherence to cross-divisional/systems for considered domain in alignment with Functional Architects and the Design & Integration Architects
Ensure designs produced adhere to architectural roadmap and support the development, execution and operations of software/service
Actively and Efficiently drive architecture review board to make sure the projects integration architecture is adhering the right integration patterns for considered domains
Recommendation on technology trends (including and not limiting to: Make Vs Buy, Cloud strategy, SW lifecycle and overall Ecosystem, ...)
Support execution of technical projects in the area of domain considered such as upgrades, consolidations and new technology implementation projects, on time, on quality and costs
Actively learn and identify key considered domain market trends and identify and propose opportunities for their usage in Novartis
Proactively shares knowledge of technology risks and opportunities to build competitive advantage and improve efficiency and effectiveness of business units.

Minimum requirements

University degree in Information Systems or comparable education, experience or equivalent.
English fluent spoken and written. Further languages preferred 10-12+ years IT experience, predominantly in providing the services in Solution Design and Architecture.
3+ years in Analytics / Big Data experience, proven skills & experience in solution design and architecture
Sound Experience in working in an Analytics / Big Data environment.
Sound Experience with Cloud-based technologies (especially AWS).
Experience working with DevOps tools and familiar with SW lifecycle management .
Good level of expertise in Advanced Analytics Technologies (especially Data Engineering and system integration, including performance tuning and sizing).
Familiar with Micro-Service Oriented Architecture, containerization and serverless architectures.
Good knowledge of applications in a Big Data environment.
Familiarity with concepts of data and system security and compliance in highly regulated environments
