Job Summary

What will you get to do? Assist the Lab Manager in coordinating and managing day-to-day lab activities, ensuring efficient workflow and resource utilization. Collaborate with medical and technical staff to ensure smooth sample processing, accurate testing, and timely result reporting. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of supplies and reagents to ensure uninterrupted lab operations. Support quality control and quality assurance processes to maintain accurate and reliable test results. Participate in proficiency testing and quality improvement initiatives, addressing any discrepancies or issues promptly. Ensure adherence to all regulatory guidelines, accreditation requirements, and safety protocols. Assist in preparing for inspections and audits by regulatory bodies, addressing any findings as necessary. Provide guidance and mentorship to laboratory staff, promoting a positive work environment and fostering professional growth. Help with training new staff members, ensuring they understand lab protocols and safety measures. Collaborate with the Lab Manager to oversee the maintenance and calibration of lab equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable results. Assist in maintaining accurate and organized records of test results, patient information, and other relevant data. Collaborate with the IT department to ensure proper functioning of the laboratory information system (LIS). Effectively communicate with healthcare providers and other stakeholders regarding test results, queries, and any issues that may arise. Identify areas for process optimization and operational efficiency, and propose and implement solutions. Contribute to emergency response protocols and procedures to ensure the lab's readiness to handle unexpected situations. Metrics for the role: Effective Communication Skills Optimizie operational efficiency Skills we are looking for Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Proven experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory setting, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong understanding of laboratory operations, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) and related software. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accuracy in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in laboratory settings.
