Job Summary
  • Has a clear understanding of the BI product and functionality and remains current on BI product offerings and capabilities (including Business Objects)
  • Ensures cost effective BI design, development, and integration with other systems
  • Ensures that the BI system is scalable and always available
  • Ensures alignment with company goals and adherence to (and continued development of) corporate standards for data warehousing
  • Develops and provides a clear understanding of the BI data model and strategies for data modeling and acts as the main point of contact for all data model and system-design decisions
  • Incorporates performance standards into the design of BI
  • Participates in the corporate data archiving strategy and implementation
  • Leads efforts to analyze and translate business requirements and functional specifications into technical specifications, data flow diagrams and data models
  • Creates, enhances and implements extractors, transformations, process chains and load procedures needed to populate Info Objects in BW
  • Uses strong BI skills to create and implement InfoObjects, DSOs, InfoCubes, InfoSets and MultiProviders
  • Ability to program and to coordinate programming of ABAP to complete design where necessary
  • Documents design, both from a functional and a technical standpoint (assists with user documentation/training as needed)
  • Possesses a good understanding of available BI Business Content (predefined standard content)
  • Unit-tests BI system and works with various parties involved to achieve sound integration tests and end user acceptance testing
  • Verifies data quality and ensures BI is in sync with the source systems
  • Possesses proficiency in standard BI reporting tools including BEx Analyzer, BEx Web Analyzer, Web Application Designer, Portal and SAC
  • Tracks, troubleshoots, and escalates product issues and works directly with SAP identifying and resolving "bugs" and requesting improvements in functionality
  • Communicates potential problems proactively and effectively , recommends solutions and progress
  • Supports IT in other projects as needed
