Job Summary
  • Position is responsible for the technical and scientific operation of the laboratories under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Position administers those functions which results in the reporting of laboratory results.
  • Position is also responsible for establishment of policies which assure compliance with standards and accreditation requirements specified by clinical laboratory accrediting agencies such as NABL etc.
  • Position would ensure implementation of the Quality Management System in the Lab under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Position would ensure that personnel employed within the laboratory possess the competence to perform assigned functions and meet educational, professional and training requirements.
  • Position is responsible for assignment of technical personnel, to assure that staffing is adequate to competently perform the scope, volume and complexity of testing performed in the laboratories under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Position is responsible to assure that the facilities, equipment and working environment are adequate and conducive to the technical and overall working of the clinical reference laboratory.
  • Position is that of a leader who regularly communicates with technical personnel, to ensure appropriate staffing, identify potential problems and maintain processes which provide for the effective and efficient review of clinical laboratory test results prior to release.
  • Position involves strong clinical interface with medical specialists in the country, to maintain continuous closeness to referring physician and laboratories, hospitals and other institutional customers, to maintain and enhance the appropriate clinical stature of the laboratory.
  • Position is responsible to select referral laboratories and monitor the quality of their services.
  • Position is responsible for the supervision of the Materials for purchases of reagents, consumables, spares and capex items.
  • Position is responsible for cost containment on reagents, consumables and capital account. All the needed management and finance inputs will be proved to facilitate this responsibility.
  • Position is responsible to address any complaint, request or suggestion from staff / or users of laboratory services.
  • Position is responsible to design and implement a contingency plan to ensure that essential services are available during emergency situations or other conditions when laboratory services are limited or unavailable.

D.C.P. / D.N.B. (Pathology) / M.D. (Pathology)
