The Content Services Centre
To accelerate Pearson's digital transformation, Pearson has created a Content Services Centre (CSC) in order to:
Simplify our content services vendor landscape & engagement model
Help us become more efficient and effective in our content investment
Improve our speed to market
Ensure the market-appropriate quality of our products
Enable our editorial and product portfolio teams to focus on product innovation.
The CSC comprises a range of vendors, mainly offshore, based in India. These strategic outsourcing partners work closely with Pearson to deliver content services for all teams across global markets. In its target state, by 2022, the CSC is anticipated to reach a population of c. 2500 to 3000 vendor resources, accounting for $120M spend.
The CSC sits under the Global Business Services team, which provides governance over a range of outsourced service lines, including Finance, HR, Rights & Royalties, and Technology.
The Service Delivery team
Sitting under the CSC, this role is part of the newly formed CSC Service Delivery team. This team will foster the successful delivery of content production services by CSC vendors through driving best practice and compliance to a defined framework, process & tools. Specific areas of responsibility for the team are to include:
Project management framework: define, communicate, track, improve
Delivery best practice: identify further opportunities to make service delivery more efficient & effective in meeting business needs
Delivery status: work with Delivery Excellence to manage, validate, track, identify risks & issues
Reporting: Support adherence to management information reporting
Escalations: Support GBS and Relationship Managers to drive resolution and identify opportunities for standardization of best practice
Global standards: Support business and Relationship Managers to ensure CSC vendors have necessary knowledge & support around Pearson global standards and are compliant
Responsibilities
The Delivery Manager / Senior Delivery Manager will:
Work with stakeholders in Global Business Services and our internal customers to define the engagement process for content services projects.
Ensure that all new projects are set up for success by following the defined engagement process.
Ensure that all new projects are correctly providing management information and reporting through mandated tools and dashboards.
Review monthly reports from service providers for accuracy, identify material deficiencies in reporting.
Monitor the programme to proactively identify risk and issues requiring mitigation.
Monitor the programme to identify best practices that can be more widely adopted.
Work with teams to monitor process compliance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Participate in delivery escalations and the Root Cause Analysis process to derive improvement opportunities, and see these through to completion.
Ensuring best practice is adopted in relation to digital and interactive content development and production, e.g. use of JIRA to track issues, use of Agile methodology, adherence to file naming protocols, test scripts & metadata sets, adherence to Alfresco (CMS) guidance.
Coordinating with the business and suppliers to ensure supplier teams have all necessary knowledge of Pearson tools and systems, identifying where training or further guidance from the business is required.
Driving improvements on existing processes and workflow to increase efficiency (cost and time) and to meet required quality standards.
Advising the business around the dependency on tools and systems, whether Pearson existing tools or systems, or the requirement to build or purchase.
Note: Flexibility to lead/join calls with stakeholders in the IST evenings is required.

Understanding and application of Agile principles of development.
Understanding of software and software development processes: XML, HTML5, CSS (desirable).
A proactive approach to problem solving.
Attention to detail.
Can demonstrate the following experience (essential):
Worked in a large delivery organisation.
Worked in a project / programme / delivery management role.
Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheets and Jira.
Advanced experience of using MS Excel.
Experience of analyzing data and drawing and presenting conclusions.
Experience working in report creation, modeling, and trend forecasting.
Can demonstrate the following experience (desirable):
Familiarity with print and digital content production.
Worked in an education organisation.
Comprehensive understanding of content development workflows.
Working knowledge of Pearson tools, systems and platforms
Experience of working with Pearson metadata.
Use of content development tools.
Have experience in depicting trends by using graphs and charts.
Experience of SQL server reporting services, analysis services, Tableau, or any other data visualization tools.
Experience of working in a SCRUM / Agile team.
