We are scaling up our operations rapidly, and the Managing Editor will be responsible for maintaining quality standards and growing our content operations in a variety of different domains.

As a key stakeholder in maintaining the quality of deliverables, the Managing Editor will oversee content quality across projects, manage feedback and deliveries, and interface regularly with clients, content writers and editors.

The ideal candidate working with Pepper in this role must have extensive experience in copy editing and reviewing content, supervising 8 to 10 editors, and building sustainable processes to foster growth.

The Managing Editor will report directly to the Head of Editorial. This is a full-time role based out of the Pepper Content Mumbai office.

Job Responsibility

  • Quality assurance: Setting a benchmark for quality expectations and maintaining a high standard of quality for all content deliverables.

  • Documentation:Identifying and documenting lapses in quality and proactively improving overall content quality through scalable frameworks.

  • Reviewing:Reviewing and sampling edited pieces to ensure factual accuracy, depth of research, domain expertise, and quality of language before project delivery.

  • Communication: Ensuring client requirements are communicated effectively through the Pepper Content platform. Responding to and resolving queries that come from editors and writers.

  • Briefing and Preparation: Collaborating with the content management team to create briefing materials, such as concept notes, writing guidelines, and instruction videos.

  • Liaisoning:Engaging regularly with clients and the internal team to set quality expectations, understand requirements, and provide insights to the content strategy team.

  • Operations:Creating execution strategies for content writers and editors in collaboration with the operations and delivery teams. Collaborate with the Operations team to create allocation strategies and manage deadlines.

  • Team building and mentoring: Manage a diverse group of editors and build a strong team of experts as the business grows.

The ideal candidate must have

  • Strong experience in senior editorial roles (Minimum 3 years) specifically in the healthcare industry. Preferably, the candidate must have extensively worked with healthcare-specific content in the digital media space.

  • Strong copyediting and proofreading skills, with advanced knowledge of applied grammar.

  • Excellent deadline-management skills and the ability to balance quality standards and delivery timelines.

  • At least 3 years of experience in managing teams of editors and handling queries.

  • A good understanding of content writing, content marketing, and SEO is an advantage.

  • Strong experience in managing highly fluid work environments and managing multiple projects at the same time
