Job Summary
Firewall Engineering Role
The Firewall Engineer is responsible for ensuring that any designs produced and delivered are in line with the current network architecture and nfrastructure strategy documentation and are fit for purpose. Design and oversee changes to the infrastructure in support of client requirements.
Key Skills - Essential
Detailed knowledge of all major components of network infrastructure used within the Barclays group - e.g. Cisco routers and switches, Juniper firewalls.
Utilise experience of design using LAN, WAN and Internet technologies and detailed troubleshooting of applications utilising TCP/IP protocols.
Utilise experience of network design using a multi-vendor environment, including Cisco, Juniper and any other vendor (Checkpoint, F5, Lucent ).
Perform detailed troubleshooting of such environments, and demonstrates the ability to engage with application teams to extract appropriate information.
Thorough knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol Suite, VLSM, IP address allocation and IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF and BGP routing protocols.
Proven experience in designing and implementing network solutions.
Desirable
Professional level certification within Cisco/Juniper is expected.
