Job Summary

To deliver editorial services to authors, reviewers and editors according to the requirements of the journal and publication ethics, providing a high level of proactive service. To oversee the efficient operation of the editorial office and administer the review process for assigned journals. To modify the workflow and practices of assigned journals for developments and enhancemants amending relevant editorial systems accordingly. First point of contact for authors, reviewers and editors. This role is full time.

Key Result AreasMain Activities and Responsibilities

Editorial ProcessTo deliver editorial services to authors, reviewers and editors in accordance with the specific requirement of each journal. Manage the Editorial process with the objective of reducing the lead time from submission to decision, overseeing editorial process at all stages as follows:
New submissions and revised submissions
Review process
Decision process.
Ensure all submissions comply with journal and Elsevier policies and that policies are adhered to during the review process in place prior to publication.

Support & reportingSupport and assist authors, reviewers and editors in the use of the Elsevier editorial systems, advising Editors of functionality and enhancements.
Suggest and implement changes (workflow/configuration) to optimize performance of journal workflow.
Trouble shooting/providing feedback to the Researcher Support and Technical Support Teams.
Provide Editors and Publishers with informal and documented updates/reports of the journals performance.
Generate journal reports for Editors and Publishers on a monthly basis, for Board meetings and ad hoc reports as required.

CommunicationRepresent Elsevier professionally in all communication with the Journal community.
Update and advise external customers, authors, reviewers and editors with accurate and appropriate journal, submission and system information.
Respond to queries from Editors, Reviewers and Authors within department best practice lead times.

TeamworkWork effectively as part of the Team to achieve individual and Team objectives, sharing knowledge and skills.
Provide support within Team.
Effective liaison with Publishing and Operations colleagues.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences (and any other requirements)

Education to degree level or equivalent
Relevant work experience in a similar role with atleat 2 to 3 years of expereince
Excellent communication skills written and verbal
