Role: Systems Engineer

About Saras: Saras Analytics is a data management and advanced analytics firm focused on delivering data backed insights to small and medium sized businesses. The firm was started in 2017 by a group of seasoned executives with extensive experience implementing data management and advanced analytics projects for fortune 500 companies. Our vision is to democratize the use of advanced analytics within the SMB marketplace and contribute to their growth.

Our flagship product, Daton, plays a pivotal role in the executing our vision. This specific role is in the engineering organization of our company. Daton is composed of the following components:

Extracts which pull data from a variety of sources like SQL databases, NoSQL databases, and SaaS applications such as Google Analytics

A high-volume distributed pipeline, moving millions of records per month from hundreds of distinct sources

Loaders, which write into data warehouses such as Redshift, BigQuery, Postgres and Snowflake

A powerful mid-tier and web application that ties it all together

Our backend services and integrations are written in Java and Kotlin, our front-end in AngularJS

Job Summary:

Infrastructure

You will be responsible for maintenance of infrastructure and system administration, both Google and Amazon clouds

You will be responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure components such as VMs, databases, cloud storage buckets, Firebase, and workspaces

Design and create alerting mechanism for critical components, and take appropriate action as and when needed

Collaborate with technical architects for optimizing existing infrastructure, and creating new environments

Own access controls of cloud environments for entire project and teams

Product Platform

Pipelines are core platform components which periodically extract, transform, and load data to various destinations. You will be responsible for

Ensuring all platform services are running as expected, and take necessary actions when needed

Setup alerting mechanisms for critical services and notify appropriate teams

Own access controls for platform components such as databases, Firebase, and several other third-party services

Work with architects to ensure platform SLAs are met

Eligibility:

Hands-on experience in maintaining databases, and cloud environments. Both Google and Amazon clouds

3+ years of hands-on experience in system administration

Familiarity with database administration

Hands-on experience in setting up monitoring and alerting mechanisms

Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools is a plus

Familiarity with ETL tools is a plus
